The 2017 Isshin-Ryu Hall of Fame (IHOF) this weekend was exciting. During the IHOF Awards Banquet this event met beyond all of our expectations when Sensei Linda Wilson was inducted into the Isshin-Ryu Hall of Fame. She is the first African American Female ever inducted into the IHOF. This event was sold out! It was an excellent occasion to celebrate!
We want to thank the Hall of Fame Board for such an outstanding job in preparing everything. The Karate 5 would also like to keep Sensei Maurice Msarsa and his wife, Johnnie, in our prayers for healing.
The 2017 tournament under the leadership of Grandmaster Willie Garfield Wilson, Sensei Linda Wilson, Sensei Melbert Lee Jr, Instructors and Leaders was a success. The students proved their training and you can see by the results of their awards. Overall this was an excellent weekend which began with the seminar given by Master Linda Wilson on Friday, July 21st. To us, the awards banquet and tournament activities cannot get any better. Karate Five Association wants to thank everyone involved for an exciting, festive historical weekend.
Karate Five extends a tremendous gratitude of thanks to WVLT News Channel 8 at 5P Alan Williams' interview, "Hall of Fame Karate" with Master Linda Wilson which aired July 28, 2017 as a tribute to her induction into the Isshin-Ryu Hall of Fame.
Karate Five also extends its thanks and appreciation to WJBE FM Radio for their two-week tribute announcing Linda Wilson's historical induction into the 2017 IHOF.
