 CJ Burnett - 2021 Karate Five Scholarship Recipient

 

Congratulations to CJ Burnett who received a $600 scholarship from Karate Five. She graduated from Pellissippi State and will begin furthering her education at the University of Tennessee. She wrote an awesome essay which was one of the requirements for the scholarship. On top of being an honor student, CJ is a top of the line 3rd degree black belt martial artist in all aspects. She is effective and precise and is an important asset to our Dojo.(To read CJ's essay, click on red "essay" link above.

 

June 9, 2019 - Instructor, "CJ" Burnett, received the Karate Five's Continuing Education Scholarship Award at Foster Chapel Baptist Church during their 2019 Annual Graduation Services programs.

CJ is part of the Karate Five Dojo leadership team and is a San Dan, 3rd Degree Black Belt.  Congratulations CJ!

 

 

Karate Five Association and its students visited "My Place Performing Arts Center" June 19, 2019, Knoxville, TN to present a martial arts demonstration. Again  on June 23, 2019 members of the Karate Five also returned to attend an Arts Center Recital performance by the Center's students for family, guests and friends.

May 16, 2019 - BRYAN COLLEGE MARTIALS ARTS DEPARTMENT

Karate Five Annual Community and Continuting Education Outreach Programs

 

As noted on our Home Page, Karate Five is particularly proud of its:

  • Annual Back-to-School Backpack and Supplies Program  (with its partner, Foster Chapel Baptist Church) presented to students from K-5 to college age.

Karate Five offers not just martial arts training but a unique opportunity to reach out and help mold the young lives, education and spiritual foundation of our inner city youth.

 

Karate Five Scholarship Fund and Continuing Education Scholarship Awards

Karate Five Scholarship and Continuing Education Scholarships - Karate Five awards a scholarship under its Continuing Education Scholarship on the basis of available funds since the organization is a not-for-profit martial arts school.  However, Karate Five has been blessed to award scholarships under its program or donate funds to the Foster Chapel Baptist Church Scholarship fund every year since 2010. The following are recipients of the scholarship awards:

  • 2010 - Donated to Foster Chapel Baptist Church Scholarship Fund
  • 2011 - Donated to Foster Chapel Baptist Church Scholarship Fund
  • 2012 - Karate Five awarded Continuing Education Scholarship to Darren Durham
  • 2013 - Karate Five awarded Continuing Education Scholarship to Darren Durham
  • 2014 - Karate Five awarded Continuing Education Scholarship to Kenneth "Slim" Jenkins
  • 2015 - Karate Five awarded Continuing Education Scholarship to Kayla Torra
  • 2016 - Karate Five awarded Continuing Education Scholarship to Ayanna Troutman
  • 2017 - Karate Five awarded Continuing Education Scholarship to Ayanna Troutman

1984 - KIDS' DAY AT BEARDSLEY MIDDLE SCHOOL - A PARTNERSHIP WITH KNOX COUNTY'S ADOPT-A-SCHOOL CORPORATE SPONSOR 

Karate Five joined with a local corporate sponsor and provided a cookout and martials demonstration by Karate Five Association. The principal and staff were delighted this had never been done  for their students. An entire day where expenses were paid for and donated by Karate Five and their Adopt-A-School corporate Sponsor devoted to a cookout and martial artists' visit to the school for the sole benefit of the students. A local police presence was invited to attend and participate in the fun, food and festivities. Everyone had a great time especially the students!
